With Natrona families facing so many challenges, and female heads-of-household in particular, we are now on the Western Pennsylvania Diaper Bank waiting list. We hope to distribute diapers and period supplies directly in Natrona.
More than half of Natrona's households are low-income and a third are under federal poverty level. Consider that disposable diapers cost $70 to $80 per month per baby, according to the Diaper Bank.
And, in Natrona, more than 10 percent of households in Natrona are run by females with no husbands present - and in poverty.
We're hopeful that an opportunity will arise for us to fit in this tremendous program.
The closest Diaper Bank outlet today is a two-mile walk from Natrona - uphill.
