Bringing bus service to Natrona

The Building Block of Natrona is actively lobbying Port Authority of Allegheny County to extend its 1 Freeport Road bus route from it's current end point in Tarentum to also serve residents along River Road through Tarentum, Brackenridge, Natrona and then up the hill to also serve Sheldon Park and ending at the Highlands Mall. This would connect the underserved areas of these communities with access to jobs, education, food and social services.

Building a Community Coalition
Since the extension of the bus route would benefit other communities too (beyond Natrona), it has been our goal to not only work with other leaders and organizations, but to foster and support a coalition that drives toward this goal of bringing public transportation to these neighborhoods.
The Building Block of Natrona inherently is connected to other community organizations - our board members represent several other organizations and communities. And, we now are part of a broader coalition called the Highlands Partnership Network, which also has made this initiative a priority.
